program: Reconversion of a former industrial building into research and innovation spaces, public park and parking

The project concerns the recovery and reconversion of the largest of the decommissioned buildings of the South-Western quadrant of former industrial precint Officine Reggiane, a transaction carried out by the Reggiane Urban Transformation Company and which will complete the overall project of the Innovation Park. The project of the Shed 15 b/c is grafted on the orthogonal mesh of the Reggiane area, providing for the valorization of several areas related to the completion of the first quadrant of the Innovation Park.

In addition to housing, in the recovered spaces of the shed of over 12,000 square meters of floor space, about 5,000 square meters of space intended for incubators, innovation and research, the project significantly increases the extension of public space inside the shed, as a continuum of the green space, integrating the macro-system of the city-park with the microsystem of the offices-laboratories with a spatial predisposition also for free time. The project involves the recovery and consolidation of the perimeter walls, while the less significant part is demolished to leave the roof exposed with the supporting structure consisting of columns and metal beams.

Among the redeveloped blocks, large green gardens that will be an element of communication and connection with the public green area located between the two connecting axes of the Innovation Park. Also envisaged are the construction of a new access road to the sector and the construction of a large green area in the area located between the Shed 15 b / c and the Shed 11, a new green lung for the entire redeveloped sector, for a total area about 7,200 square meters planted with arboreal essences. The area can be equipped for different uses both as a simple place to stop and aggregate to become a sort of extension of the interior spaces of the shed where to set up activities of various kinds connected with the functions present throughout the building. The constituent elements of the project are articulated in a strong functional, visual, connective and landscape continuity.
