Pochi fogli con brevi annotazioni. I disegni di Adalberto Libera per il Mausoleo di Augusto testimoniano due progetti compiuti, per la straordinarietà dell’intuizione e per il grado di sintesi a cui giungono, nella loro scarna rappresentazione.
Concepiti a distanza di tempo e pensati sullo stesso soggetto, portano alla luce due momenti significativi della ricerca di Adalberto Libera sullo spazio ad aula unica, un tema ricorrente da lui stesso definito “il frutto supremo di un unico tipo selezionato per secoli” che, agli studi giovanili del Pantheon  dei monumenti della Roma Antica trova una sintesi nell’object trouvè dell’Augusteo.

A few sheets of paper with brief notes. The sketches by Adalberto Libera for the Mausoleum of Augustus provide evidence of two complete projects, with all the extraordinary intuition and succinctness they achieve in their scant representation. Conceived at widely different times and referring to the same subject, they shed light on two significant moments in the research done by Adalberto Libera on the one-room monument, a recurrent theme which he himself defines “the supreme fruit of a unique type, selected over the centuries” that, from his youthful studies of the Pantheon and the monuments of Ancient Rome find their synthesis in the object trouvè of the Augustan monument.
